The Catalyst Easter Hunt is off and running with huge success! After an early rush of winners, the momentum hasn't fallen off a wall, and they're still scrambling to find the eggs. However, we're already down to our last egg! Our customers have spent their mornings being eggstremely "productive", hunting for our little chicks and our AV specialist chicks, to win an Easter Egg ahead of the long weekend! About us
The Catalyst is our new ground breaking facility that is home to the UK’s National Innovation Centre for Ageing and the National Innovation Centre for Data. The building hosts a suite of bespoke facilities and a range of flexible office space. This will enable the creation of a tightly coupled and supportive ecosystem between the innovation centres and commercial organisations with a focus on either delivering new insights through data analytics or delivering new products and services which help us to age well, for longer. The city-centre location provides easy access to regional, national and international transport links. By providing world-class facilities and services under one roof, The Catalyst will act as a ‘beacon’ for both Ageing and Data related innovation. Tenants will benefit from co-location with the ongoing activities of the innovation centres and with like-minded organisations working in related domains. Together, these activities will deliver economic growth and enable the UK to become a global leader in innovation through ageing and data.

Last week we hosted Sarah Thackray and BeaconHouse Events for the fifth events sustainability supply chain roundtable and it was a fantastic meeting! 🍃 ☀️ 🌳 It was great to welcome so many important faces for the #northeastevents industry and to discuss a wide variety of topics relating to #sustainability and its ever growing importance. Including an exciting new toolkit which will soon be launched by NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau. Definitely worth looking into once live ⭐ Attended by our very own Molly Calveley, it is fantastic to be a part of this network and gaining a further understanding of how we can continue to do all we can in relation to #sustainableevents. Our fifth edition of the north east event sustainability supply chain roundtable kicked off a sunny week, hosted by the Catalyst at Newcastle Helix and we covered so much! 🌟 There is a new #northeast #sustainableevents toolkit soon to be launched by NewcastleGateshead Convention Bureau – pop your details in the comments if you're involved with the north east events sector and would like to know more. 🥗In line with our focus at BeaconHouse Events on food at events this year, there is much we can do about surplus from events. Contact The Magic Hat Cafe in Newcastle about donating leftover ingredients from venues/restaurants for them to make into tasty dishes from otherwise wasted food. Jess Miller at Project Bind can support venues to design out food waste from menus. Consider using Too Good To Go to get any surplus food out to the general public, if charities and community groups are unable to take the surplus. ⚡️There are discussions underway at one of our North East Universities about piloting a project to turn food waste into fertiliser in the region, and they are currently looking for organisations to sign up to donate wasted food.
